Finally, I have installed the public beta. A lot of improvement from the previous build I have tested (53-something, can't remember).
Some notable improvement follows:
- Better setup application. Now you know what happens between those progress bars.
- A new minimize/restore animation. Very nice! Maximize/restore still has no animation though.
- More gadgets. Currently using: Timer, Notes, and CPU Meter.
- Sound running with update after installation.
But some things aren't going, yet:
- IE7 still does not display .Text administration page “correctly“. I'm starting to think that .Text does uses some non-standard styling.
- Aero Glass is still limited to 1024x768. Anything higher than that removes all the transparencies... (but it's still Glass).
- New document animation in Expression still lagged.
Next up is Office 2007 Beta 2 on top of Windows Vista Beta 2.

A stack of nifty features!
I just went through the OneNote Guide (Beta 2) notebook and found out that the 2007 version boasts many, many interesting features. Some notable features follows:
- Improved Search: basically, this is a feature of all 2007 Microsoft Office System (notice the naming structure change). Before using this feature, you will need to download a Beta version of Windows Desktop Search. After installation, OneNote now able to search for texts, words in images, even words in audio recordings!
- PDF Publishing: also a feature of all 2007 Microsoft Office System. You can save your notes as PDF, and distribute it by email to anyone with Acrobat Reader.
- Note Syncing: it enables you to use the same (synced) notes between computers without the need to copy the files.
- Note Hyperlinking: you can link to an existing note from another note. Usage example is building a Table of Content for your notes.
- Simple Calculators: just type “1+1=“ or “sin(30)=“ and space, OneNote will fill in the result.
- Print-to-OneNote: now any program can put a mark on OneNote! (and it's searchable, too)
- File Attachment: now OneNote can hold any file!
- Video Recording: for complete experience of an event.
Personally, I liked the improved search and print-to-OneNote features. Just like what it said, OneNote is like wiki on steroids now!
