OK, I have promised to give away the community launch kit, so here goes the first one:

  • Write a comment stating why you are the best person to receive the prize (e.g. "I can write a book about Windows Vista if only I can get it.").
  • You can write as many as you like, just don't flood (i.e. same answer multiple times).
  • This contest opens for two weeks, until the Friday on the last week of March (30/03).

I will pick one best answer to receive the following: 1 Windows Vista Business (including 60-day Office 2007 trial), 1 free exam voucher, and 1 Windows Vista keychain. I will send them to the winner's address, no additional cost. In total, the prize is around US$200.

I'd like to focus on a new technology for my future company. My development target is the latest OS from Microsoft (which is Windows Vista of course) with .NET Framework 3.0 that comes with it, also I'm targeting the newest Office 2007 development too.

With this prize, I can hasten my development skill so I can make myself ready, once I start my own carrer as an ISV.

Well, if you're asking why I'm the right person to win the prizes, I'll tell you this: I don't know. I'm not really good at answering such question, since I don't have specific thing to be proud of compared to others.

But let me tell you this, I am interested in trying Vista and Office'07. They are many interesting things to learn from those products. I want to try Outlook'07. I heard it's great.

I never use key chain (my brother likes it, but I use cutton bud plastic to store keys), but Sharepoint certification is surely something! Having a certification coupon makes me want to explore the particular subject. Cram..cram..cram!! I corious to know how the coupon looks like :) Got 2 from Norman last year, 1 from my friend and 1 from Jay last August.

Actually I've tried Vista before. I used it to run devenv, and I was shocked to encounter such rendering problems when dealing with code. Can't say much about it, but it made me to go back to the old OS that I used to do .NET stuffs. Maybe the VS 2005's service pack for Vista will solve the problem. Or is it my graphic card that is old enough for Vista?

My graphic card's score was 2.0. That's a nice way Microsoft telling me to upgrade.

...do I win? :)

Well, Windows Vista is the newest release of Windows version, and as a junior software developer i need it to learn how it works, how it feels, how we programmed on that platform, and of course i want to know myself about it performance. So...send me that stuff. :)

guess its World of Warcraft thing :) ... well, umm, my wife at home is already vista-capabled and currently running (pirated) XP Proffesional in which im not proud of :p, but i'm happy though cuz it can run my vs express suite, virtual pc to run my unix systems, some graphics and web software and the most importan thing is : play my fave "smallville" and "heroes" movies after 8x5 hours of coding .. :p Why im entitled for the gift ? obviously my motorbike need a new key chain, voucher to take my MCSD.NET certification (for justification) and an legally OS to replace my old XP :) ..

There's not much business that upgrades to Vista (at least not yet) mainly because many of their business softwares don't correctly run in vista. Since I'm an active stock trader, I can test which software runs in Vista (business software that is) and the compatibility degree. And since I do have a blog which has some viewership, I can get the message out faster :-)

I'm using ubuntu linux for some time, and I think I like it. All my hardware working, the OS really accelerate my productivity. I don't think Vista is the one I need, but your contest makes me think. What if I use Vista at my PC? I think there will be a lot of driver problem, maybe I have to download a lot of big files out of the net, maybe I have to erase my entire disk (ext3) to format it to Vista file system. Maybe my computer will work slowly like hell. Lots of people say Vista is bad, and there is a BadVista campaign too... A lot of virus, malware, etc makes me stay away from Microsoft OSes. But, maybe Vista will recognize all my hardware, and work flawlessly and super-fast without any pain in the ass. And, the Office 2007 will make my life easier (rather than OpenOffice). Maybe, if I have a copy of Vista, I can compare the both two, and recommend people with the better OS, for the better world. Last, the keychain sounds very cool, I think.

i just want to share my experience about Vista i am already tried the Vista, first impression is so COOLLZZZZZ. The icon, features sounds....it can make u so wahhhhhh......And the coolest thing is the theme of windows Aero. The security is more than XP , cause every time if u want to access out of ur comp(network) it will have some authenticate to u. But Vista cannot compatible all the software use in XP, Vista already have some feature it can make compatibility with XP,98 and else. But it still cannot running. I Suggest for every one,before u install the Vista, try to make backup all Data. For hardware maybe have some problem,u have to find in Internet, but some of them not yet support Vista, so u have to wait or maybe have to buy a new one in order to running ur Vista in ur machine. last i night i hear a  conversation from my PC. i think the two  OS that installed on my PC is arguing who is the best. So i try to listen to their conversation .

ubuntu : hey XP i have outclassed you, because our master use me more than you.

i hear my XP is crying because lately  i use ubuntu abandon my XP, because i have a XGL/Compiz intalled on my ubuntu. So i have a litte chat with My XP.

me : why are you crying?

XP : because leave me to that ugly free OS.

me : ouw...he is not ugly, he is very pretty because of XGL/Compiz.

XP : Agh!!!!!then you should upgrade me to my new version. Vista! he have a better UI technology and more prettyer than me. And he also have many other new technology.

me : sure i want to upgrade you to vista, but i don't have a money to buy license for vista.

XP: Don't worry some nice people at geek.netindonesia.com is willingly to give a way 1 copy of vista.

me : are you sure?

XP : yes certainly. just use your IE and browse to geek.net indonesia.net and post this conversation.

me : okay i will do that.

So i posted that conversation. I hope you will give that vista so that my XP can be upgraded and outclass ubuntu. btw it said that there are offce 2007. I will use that software to fill my blog with my vista experience.  Also i will try to improve my .net programming skill with this new vista, because i heard there are many new technology like WPF and WPFe and maybe many more.  About the keychain maybe i will use it to chain my ubuntu so he is not arguing with my old XP anymore :-P.

So Mr. Adrian please give me that Vista so my XP can be uprade.
