IE7 Pro Plugin

One thing that I've been enjoying on Firefox is the choice of quality plug-ins that are available for you.

For instance, with Mouse Gesture plug-in I can move my mouse up and to the right to get to the next tab, etc.

I've been looking for similar component for IE7 and hadn't find one that is as good as Firefox Mouse Gesture ... until a couple of days ago.

Give this plug-in a try.  It rocks :)

Dance, Zombie, Dance! Bollywood Style

Hmm... A co-worker of mine shared this video from YouTube and it's just too funny not to share it.  Don't worry, it's safe for the workplace.  Too bad you can't embed youtube viewer in this blog :(.

Going OOP with JavaScript

I've just quickly scanned an article in MSDN May 2007 called Create Advanced Web Applications With Object-Oriented Techniques.

I already know most of the techniques that were included in the article, but I thought it was very well written and very easy to understand for newcomers.  Have a go at it.  Fun Fun.

Collaborative Tools Offerings from Microsoft

Just curious on how to choose between different collaborative tools from Microsoft since they are just so many of them.

LOVE LOVE LOVE

Things that could be done better at LOVE
  • Two development sessions running in parallel track at the same time instead of just a nicely serialized development track.  The speakers have urgent matter that can't be postponed perhaps? Was a bit confused deciding which one I should go to.  Finally settled into the fundamental (Track 2), but most of the information there are already covered in previous Software Architect Forum, which I don't really mind. I wondered what I missed from the other development track.
  • Lack of on-site hand-out of the schedule.  It would be nice if there are a one page schedule hand-out that is distributed to attendants when they arrived at the event, but I managed somehow.  The board detailing what events in what room are pretty clear 'though I heard some people find them confusing still.
  • The cafetaria inside is a bit on the expensive side.  An ice chocolate for Rp. 21.000,-?  Hehe.  Well, drank one of those.  It was pretty good :), but expensive nonetheless.  Lunch hour is a bit crowded (actually, very very crowded), but what can you say, for event of this scale, it was to be expected.  They ran out of rice and chicken at Baso Lapangan Tembak, hehehe.
What I Got Out of LOVE
  • As I said before the material in the development session that I was in was already covered in other event.  However, I did learn some new stuffs that I haven't tried yet during the third sub-session by Tahir.  Love the possibility of Vista search querying, single source RSS Feed that can be used across multiple applications, built in Peer-to-Peer functionality and API and extending / using Vista Common Dialog Box.  Time to go scrounge around the net and the Windows SDK to enlighten myself on these topics :).
  • Attended the IT Vista deployment session after lunch time.  The first half of the session was interesting.  Since I don't play around with the IT side so much I found the toolset (Business Desktop Deployment) that have been provided for corporate deployment interesting.  The demo about how fast Vista copying over WAN versus XP is also fascinating.  However, how come it said 17 minutes left of copying time and was done in much less time?  I always perceived it to be slower due to the Calculating Time Remaining... part when copying file with Vista.  Actually, I read a blog entry regarding a lot of people complaining about the slow copying speed of Vista not a while ago.
  • I used Vista at the office for a while now (since Beta and exclusively since RTM version was released). But I haven't used it for personal reasons (still using XP at home) such as Digital Memory management, so I did learn quite a bit from that particular session.  Enjoyed it a lot.  Didn't know you can tag your images, etc. for easy searching.
  • Some stuffs around the expo floor: the ACER small form PC is quite interesting.  Did learn something about 3G from the XL stand (Be warned, the site is annoying as hell since it has loud music running in the background.  Wonder why some site insist using excessive Flash content when there is no need for it).  Found Samsung new phone a bit interesting. Love the thin form factor. The rest of the expo are mediocre at best.  Not bad, but not exciting.

What I Don't Get Out of LOVE
  • Didn't get any prize or souvenir this time around. X-p

Yahoo Pipes

This is a great way to mashup different web content together (web service, rss, etc.).

Think Linux / PowerShell pipe mechanism (i.e. ls | grep shoot | more) for web content.

Try it out here.

Here is a good webcast of it.
