An Old Pad: Notepad

Well, guess: who doesn't know Notepad?

Notepad is such a tiny, yet simple, word processor application, which will lauch itself in less than a second.

Its name is so simple that now, it has a friend: Notepad2. Just try googling it down...

Moreover, it is so tiny that everyone is willing to use it in every simple plain-text-editing session.

A presentation's code session? Of course, it would be very easy to show them up using the Notepad instead of the long-time-taking-to-launch Visual Studio (unless you're trying to debug a complex solution).

But, if you think it has a well-known popularity because it has no bug, then you might be wrong.

I'm now using Windows Vista BETA 2 (5384.4) and STILL be able to repro this “tiny-also“ bug.

I think MS should acquire Notepad2 (and Paint.NET maybe).

Save it as Unicode. Problem solved!

Still, it is a bug.

A solution is needed over workarounds.

There could be more subtle-chaining, subsequent bugs.

If it is designed to work so, it must work as it is.

Otherwise, it's just an old pad...
