Java Jazz Festival

Long time no blog. Stick out tongue Sorry, I've been flirting with the dark side of the force (Open Source - Apache, MySQL, PHP). Recently I've been playing with Drupal. Nice CMS, I think it's the CMS of choice for the dark side, even better than Joomla!. And I also made a website for my mom using PHP. She makes great lapis legit (Indonesian layer cakes), and I haven't tasted any lapis legit better than hers. Come and visit the website at LapisMania.com.

Don't worry, I'm still faithful to the light side (Microsoft), the true benevolence... Big Smile Microsoft proved their goodness by giving some free Java Jazz Festival passes to Plasmedia. Thanks to Microsoft. So I went there yesterday (Sunday 4 March), and it was fantastic. My favorite was David Benoit & Magenta Orchestra featuring Michael Paolo. I've been a fan of David Benoit for a long time, but this was the first time I saw him performing live. The local Indonesian artists were wonderful too. I had a good time there and met some old friends.

Hello Mark...

What about DotNetNuke (www.dotnetnuke.com)?

Have you tried it ?

With DotNetnuke you would not switch to PHP (then back to Microsoft Technology) -- ups... you have better known than me ;-)

My website is Powered by DotNetNuke :: www.sudirman.biz

I love .ascx plus Inline coding :: just like coding in PHP but more Structured. Thanks for Component Oriented of ASP.NET (Microsoft .NET in general)

For .NET requirements, of course the choices are limited. The most popular one is DotNetNuke, besides Microsoft's own SharePoint (MOSS) which can also be used as a CMS, if you wish to pay (it's directed towards enterprises). So of course for "cheap" websites using .NET for those who doesn't want to write the code from scratch, DotNetNuke is the solution.

I'm not switching to PHP and then back again. I'm using both sides (Microsoft and open-source). By grokking PHP I got a lot of new insights in C#. C# is still my language of choice for enterprise solutions, but PHP is a nice alternative for quick 'n' easy things. And I learned so much from Drupal. The API is not object-oriented in a strict sense, but the concept itself is object-oriented! This is a contradiction but true. I'm amazed that the design was so flexible and a lot of things that are difficult to do in conservative OOP proved to be so easy in PHP.

So my advice to you guys, use C# as your primary language, but don't close your eyes to other languages. Your knowledge of them will improve your knowledge in C#. Try PHP, Ruby on Rails... anything you like.

I was once one of your Binus' students under Multimedia course. I did remember that u used to be under the "so-called" dark side. I remember u used to name ASP = Amat Sangat Pelan :) It was since Plasmedia become Ms' official partner I guess that u've shifted ur paradigm to Ms. No offense anyway, just a comment :)
