Sharepoint 2007 Confuseness

Currently, I'm learning Sharepoint 2007 and Sharepoint Designer. I know little about Sharepoint and it's pretty hard for me to understand the designer. I used to use dreamweaver or Microsoft Expression Web for making HTML web. I understand HTML codes pretty good though I still don't know some of the codes. But I still can manage it so far. But this one (Sharepoint) use asp.net if I'm not wrong. And I know nothing about it. I wonder if someone can help me learn Sharepoint Designer. I wanna change the layout only, to make it nicer and more attractive. I'm confused and lost when I see the asp codes >.<
