The Google Story and The Search
Just finished reading "The Google Story" by David A. Vise. Interesting reading.

Few months ago I also finished "The Search" by John Battele. A bit more dry than "The Google Story" but give more knowledge on "Search".

From these two books, I have learned that Google is NOT JUST ANOTHER Netscape. The books explain how smart the Google Guys are (Larry Page & Sergey Brin), how they hold high standards for technologies, products, recruitments, etc. How they maintain the mantra of "Don't be evil". Basically, all the things why Bill G (read: Microsoft) is SCARED by this company, and how in certain areas Google take the lead and Microsoft just playing catch up. And how the future of Google looks bright (from technical an dbusiness view). (And how Microsoft is now just running in a corporate treadmill?) :)
But, the real battle is not just on market share or technologies. For technology companies that relies on innovations, the real battle is on how to attract talents. Everybody knows how many Microsofties left for Google (including Dr. Kai-Fu Lee), and the book even mention how resumes flow from Microsofties to Google everyday! Even for new bloods just grad from universities or even Ph.Ds, Google is now considered to be more attractive place to work. So, Google scores!
What do you think? ;)
Btw, looks like my fellow Intimedians are now reading "The Google Story". You should too...
