C# Builder 2006

Well seem the final exam for this quarter is finish, to spare my time I installed Windows 2003 Enterprise edition Trial in My lovely VPC and install C# Builder 2006
C# Builder 2006 is the last version of C# IDE developed by Borland. It's light weight IDE with the ability just like Visual C# Professional.
A little bit disappointed when start the IDE, since it's officially only support .NET 1.1 combine with MSDE2000 on the packages. However they have a great full lifecycle software development from requirements gathering tools, until deployment project powered by Installshields
In requirements gathering you can get all the requirement by using Borland Caliber, this tools have a real benefit if you work in separate team and workspace (not a single like me)
In Analysis and Design you can use the power of Borland Together to make analysis based on UML 2.0 standard, well frankly speaking the Analysis in Together is lack of feature than another UML Tools such as Enterprise Architects, in example there is no default alternate scenario, basic path scenario in use case properties, hmm little bit disappointed.
In Development, a good idea from Borland is still using another third party component using C1 Enterprise Edition (well it's since C# Builder 1.0). What I can say about C1, since is have a great and useful component from creating portable document format until excel, from report until zip component
Both development and Analysis design is connected by Borland Technology called "live source", it's technology behind ECO Framework, actually in my opinion using ECO framework is more informative and useful than seeing a class diagram that have no association in VS2005 Designer (That's why I'm still using Enterprise Architects to communicate analysis problem)
In Deployment you can depend on third party solution InstallShield solution, no question about InstallShield since they have proven themselves in advanced Installation procedure with easy development, however you will see many feature that no available in version that shipped in C# Builder

Conclusion
Visual Studio 2005 is still the great one, in .NET development no else come better (CMIIW). Borland have a potential to make it better but using 1.1 in their C# Builder latest version is a great disappointed in point of my view. In BDS Service Pack 1 their fix the C++ Builder, hope in BDS SP2
Their fix the C# to support 2.0
