.NET 3.0 Training Kit: WF, WCF, and CardSpace

Very good materials for you who want to learn .NET 3.0 quickly. This includes a set of hands-on-labs, demos, and presentations. This training content was originally designed as part of the 4 days Windows Server Ascend training and has been used several times for training classes (unfortunately, not in Jakarta).

Managed DSA

DSA = Data Structure and Algorithm. Everybody should know that :). I am happy to know that someone has started that project in CodePlex. I think this will help many .NET developers to stay efficient with good DSA in mind.

Visit DSA project site : www.codeplex.com/dsa

Next MSDN Day | .NET 3.0 Deep Dive

I am exciting to invite you for this MSDN Day as we have heard about .NET 3.0 (WCF, WF, WPF, WCS) but seems like not too many of us in INDC are ready for that. I designed this MSDN Day as our path of least resistance to quickly ramp-up on .NET 3.0 and to clearly understand when, where, and how to apply each technology.

Highlights

One full day (possibly extended to 4 days) of content focusing on .NET Framework 3.0 (WCF, WPF, WF, and WCS) and related technologies in the Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2 release.  A topic listing is below, and exact session content may change, possibly I will extend this workshop to 4 days, each W** will have 1 full day.

09.00 – 11. 00 : Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)
11.00 – 12.00  : Windows Cardspace (WCS)
13.30 – 15.00  : Windows Workflow Foundation (WF)
15.00 – 16.30  : Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)

Who Should Attend

Developers who are familiar with .NET 2.0 but new to .NET framework 3.0 and are looking to ramp-up quickly.

What :

MSDN Day | .NET Framework 3.0 Deep Dive

Where :

Auditorium, Microsoft Indonesia
Jakarta Stock Exchange Building, Tower 2, 18th Fl.
Jl.Jend.Sudirman Kav 52-53
Jakarta  12190

When :

Thursday, October 4, 2007 (please be there by 8.30 for registration)

Prerequisites:

Experience with .NET Framework 2.0 and Visual Studio 2005 (VB.NET, C#) including Generic and Transaction. My sample codes are written in C#, so a reasonable comfort level with C# will be very helpful.

How Do I Apply?

- Send Email to : commdev@netindonesia.net . Call Fitri @ 62-21-25518100 ext. 8163.
- In the email, tell us your name, company name and URL. You can bring your laptop.
- For applicants who are fasting, please write a note in your registration email.
- Only 50 seats are available ! Sorry to say this.

What you should expect to learn:

This one day deep dive workshop is designed to get you up to speed quickly on the new .NET platform for communication, presentation, workflow, and security. You’ll learn how to connect systems more quickly and easily using WCF, as well as how to make certain parts of your application more visible by incorporating workflow. You learn how to start thinking about claims-based security with Windows Cardspace. Finally, you’ll learn how to build a compelling front end using the horsepower a modern graphics engine can supply. The systems you build on this new platform will be easier to build but at the same time, more secure, manageable, visible, and beautiful than anything your competitors can produce on the older platform.

See you there, RAM

MSDN Day | STL/CLR

You can download my slides here as a summary of the original specs. Like I explained, a single word that can explain STL is CIA (Container, Iterator, Algorithm). Some important links that can be found in STL/CLR specs are:

Standard Template Library
C++ apps runs in mixed mode (/clr)
C++ apps runs in pure mode (/clr:pure)
C++ apps runs in safe mode (/clr:safe)
List of STL containers
List of STL iterators
List of STL algorithms

See you in the next MSDN day, I hope you enjoy it like I was.

Thx - R.A.M

MSDN Day | STL-CLR

I am in my car, in a long queue, in really bad traffic, on my way back home. Suddenly I remember MSDN Day where I have to present about C++ STL-CLR. Do I have my slides already? I don't think so. The best plan is no plan as usual :).

Honestly, I am busy to adapt to my new role in ISV business and also sometime "act" as "enterprise architect" in events/workshops. That is good because now I have "little" understanding about some "high level" words like S+S, SOA/SOI, SCM, CMMI, SDLC, MSF, BPEL, BPEL4WS or WS-BPEL (some people like Dondy maybe laugh, but I am okay. No worry!). The problem is, I have to talk about STL-CLR tomorrow, means that, I have to switch my brain from those high level stuffs to the lowest level, C++ STL. Sometime, while I am discussing about "how to grow ISV business" with my team, suddenly someone calls me to do "enterprise customer call" about .NET application performance. Then I switch my brain mode again. Almost for 2 or 3 times a day, I hope my brain still okay with that. :)

Okay. In MSDN day tomorrow, I will tell you a story about STL first, then I will slowly go to STL-CLR, the newest Microsoft's bridge to the managed world. I assume you are familiar with STL and CLR to easier my job. My slides will be available at my blogs (if any :)).

See you tomorrow !

Thx - R.A.M

What is Your Favorite Data Structure ?

Only 4 geeks have participated and it was hard for me to decide but there must be only one winner.

- Agus Suhanto
- Zeddy Iskandar
- Ahmad Masykur
- Irwansyah

So, I have decided to choose Zeddy's Data Structure as the best one!! Congratulation for Zeddy.
