Campus Launch Vista, I've got 5 free books.
Last Saturday, there was an event at Binus University, "campus launching windows vista". The attendants were mostly come from Binus. The 50th earliest attendants will get a book, either of Windows Vista from Elex Media or VB.NET from O'Reilly. That's why; there was a long queue out side the door. Hahaha... (Just like distributing "sembako").
Some of our community's geeks present some talk. The first session was about Windows Communication Foundation by Mr Norman. I could smell that most of the attendants felt confuse about the talk because I believe that not mostly were not developers. But I myself enjoy the session very much, WCF is cool!!! If I've got enough time, I will explore it for sure.
The second session was more funky that Mr Zeddy showed some interesting feature in windows vista like speech recognition, speech dictation, and of course his robot "Tom". It made the attendants said "WOW". But a few times, the machine didn't obey Mr Zeddy's voice, hehe...
During the break, the EO offered some gift for those who could answer the questions. The was a question about "slide-show in win vista". And also there was a question that "Mention the 4 speaker, where they are come from, and what topic that they deliver". (Actually there were just 3 speaker stated on the announcement and poster, exclude Mr Adrian Godong). I came out to answer the question, The 3 speakers were mentioned by me. But I didn't know Mr Adrian before. Hehe... At last, I received 4 books of Windows Vista from Elex Media.
Next, Adrian talked about the windows vista security and at last Mr Agung Riyadi shared some of his experience as a CEO of an IT company about Web 2.0.
The end of the session was still covered by some question and gift. Mr Norman stated a question about "What file should we include if we are going to use WCF?" It seemed like nobody could tell (Actually I know the answer, but I couldn't stand up anymore, I just got 4 books. haha). Then I told my friend the answer that's "System.ServiceModel", and she got it.
Next question from Mr Agung about "Mention 3 kinds of characteristic about Web 2.0!".
Immediately, I told my girlfriend the answer "those are Ajax, RSS, and Blog". She stood up and got it too. Hahaha...
Before dismissing, the attendants grab out the price, most of them interest in VB.NET from O'reilly. I got it too.
So, I got 5 free books from the event + Mr Norman lent me a precious book "CLR via C#". (Thanks, Man!). Totally, there were six books.
My bag was so heavy, hehe...
