"Thank you Google" notes

Internally and externally, there's been a lot of Microsoft vs Google talks. To those who don't get it, it's not about Google.com vs Live.com. It's not Google SpreadSheet vs Excel.

The reason we all use Google (whoops, did I say "we"? Stick out tongue) are similar along the lines of these:

"My friend and I met a guy at a restaurant. My friend was very taken with him, but I was suspiciously curious about this guy. After a few minutes of Googling, I found out that he was arrested for felony assault. Although I was once again disappointed with the quality of the dating pool, I was at least able to warn my friend about this guy's violent past." *

That's right, 18 years from now, if you want to date my daughter, I am going to do a Google on you, a Live on you, and a YouTube on you (just in case you're a sick porn star Super Angry)

"I just want to thank Google for teaching me how to find love. While looking for my estranged brother, I stumbled across a Mexican Web site for male strippers - and I was shocked. My brother was working as a male prostitute! The first chance I got, I flew to the city he was working in to liberate him from this degrading profession. I went to the club he was working at and found my brother. But more than that, I met one of his co-workers...We got married last weekend [in Mexico], and I am positive without Google's services, I never would have found my brother, my husband, or the surprisingly lucrative nature of the male stripping industry in Mexico!! Thank you, Google!" *

That's right, 18 years from now, if you want to work for me as a software developer, I am going to Google and Live you. And if I find out that you got a 5-stars from a lot of "Tante- Tante Girang", I am not going to hire you as a programmer, instead I am going to put you into one of my other companies: Vivid Entertainment Indonesia Big Smile

You see, it's not about searches or fancy algorithms anymore. It's how you create software that's valuable for people around the world.

And who the heck cares if it's written in C and has no plan to upgrade to C++ with Design Patterns implemented...kekeke

* The two Google Thank You notes are excerpt from the book "The World is Flat" by Thomas L. Friedman. Next I'm gonna write how the Internet got so cheap for America and India.
