Realizing Cimanggis Lab - The Internet Part
Nowadays, if you want to set up a lab, you will definitely need Internet connection. Alas, unlimited broadband connection is still too expensive in Indonesia. That is why you need the second important thing: an investor for your lab.
Luckily, I have an investor from Singapore who's willing to pay the unlimited broadband connection for 6 months.
I'm using Telkom Speedy's Home Office Package, that costs Rp 750.000 ($80) per month for 384kbps download / 75kbps upload. It's funny how the company's marketing team still call the package "broadband" for such a hefty price. For $80, I think you should get like 1Mbps or something... but hey, we're in a dreaming country :)
So now, the next time you visit my house, feel free to bring a laptop and pillow :)
My regular sleepover friends don't need to borrow my phone to use the unlimited XL GPRS anymore, as I have paired my ADSL modem with a Wireless Router.
Next, I need to find investor for airconditioning & furniture :)

Berikut konfigurasi Linksys Wireless-G Home Router WRH54G + Aztech ADSL Modem dari Speedy:
- Modem ADSL Aztech dari Telkom udah ada fungsi router-nya, jadi dari modem tinggal dicolok ke port 1 Linksys. Jangan dicolok ke port Internet, karena itu buat modem yg ga ada fungsi router-nya.
- Matiin fungsi DHCP di Aztech, karena kita akan pake fungsi DHCP di Linksys.
- Ganti IP Address Aztech karena akan conflict dgn Linksys. Gw ganti jadi 192.168.1.2
- Colok kabel dari port 2 Linksys ke PC. Buka http://192.168.1.1 , username blank, password admin (jangan lupa diganti nanti).
- Ke Advanced Setup, pilih Automatic (DHCP). Terus di bagian DHCP, set gateway ke IP Aztech (192.168.1.2), DNS 1 ke 202.134.0.155, DNS 2 ke 202.134.2.5. Save settings.
- Tinggal ke tab Wireless dan setup Wifi buat dirumah.
Kenapa ga beli Wireless-N router aja?
- Masih draft-N, belum final-N.
- Setelah beli draft-N router, biar benefit banget musti beli kartu USB wireless-N nya juga. Sedangkan laptop gw semuanya Wireless b/g compatible. Ngapain gw invest wireless card lagi...
