XNA Adventure: Deploying XNA Games from PC to Xbox 360 via Wireless LAN
So finally I got myself a Wireless LAN Adapter for my Xbox 360. This is far better than connecting to my laptop and using ICS to get to Xbox Live.
Once I connected the Wireless LAN Adapter to the USB port behind my Xbox, it was a breeze connecting it to my Cimanggis_Lab router:
- I reset the IP Settings and DNS Settings to Automatic instead of manual.
- I disabled all Port-Forwarding rules from previous post.
- I re-enabled Universal Plug-n-Play in my Router 'cos this time my Xbox talks directly to my router.
Here's how you deploy XNA Games created in PC using Game Studio Express (which is running in Visual C# 2005 Express shell) to your Xbox:
- Download XNA Game Studio Express 2.0. XNA Game Studio Express 1.0, 1.0 Refresh, 2.0, and 3.0 CTP can all work side-by-side in the same computer, so no fuss if you want to download version 3.0 CTP that supports Zune but not Xbox yet.
- Follow the instruction here: Connecting to Your Xbox 360 Console with XNA Game Studio 2.0 , or you can read it offline from the XNA Game Studio Documentation in the Start Menu folder.
- Open up Spacewar (Xbox 360) Starter Kit from Game Studio Express. Press F5 to deploy it to your Xbox.
- Ola! Spacewar game being debugged wirelessly from Visual Studio in the laptop to the Xbox 360.
Ah, the fun just begins... time for some deep-dive XNA videos during the long weekend :)
