Every Startup starts from a Garage and a Dream…

Well, not every one, some lucky ones will find great funding through angel investors and/or venture capitalists, but for the average Joe like me, it’s own funding :)

Even Guy Kawasaki’s venture capital firm is called Garage Ventures (see http://www.garage.com/)

And so, after some savings, I’ve managed to renovate the guest bedroom + spare room into the Armanovus Garage. Now Armanovers have sound-proof & air-conditioned room where we can shout at each other about the ugly source codes, forgetting to commit, changing web.config, etc.

Here are some photos of our Code-Cave:

Yes, the miracle of wall + widescreen projector allows us to have our own Armanovus Home Theater. Tuesday is always “Heroes” night :)

01

The Lounge… this is where Armanovers’ girlfriends wait for their guys to finish coding (I already told them to get married soon). I’m trying to get rid of the old sofas because they’re too big and doesn’t fit well with the room. I prefer smaller furniture for getting bigger “whitespaces”

02

The War Room. The green multi-function tables are meant for both laptops and dinner plates :)

03

The Director’s Table: 2 monitors, 2 chairs, 1 keyboard & 1 mouse. Pair Programming is best done here :)

04

Just grab a pillow and the pads below the table function as a place to relax before the next guy shouts “Where the heck is this XYZ component?!?”

05

Stuck with codes? Go outside, grab some “sweet martabak” and chat while feeding the fish. Some people actually believe fish brings good luck too.

06

The next renovation plans:

  • adding a round table and chairs replacing the sofas in the lounge
  • adding a round table and chairs in the garden for relaxing outside
  • adding LCD TV for watching news and play Xbox :)
